Many property owners are under the misconception that a concrete retaining block wall (or CRB wall for short) is built with the retaining blocks as the only element in the design. This is a dangerous premise, and the following are some pointers on the elements that should be incorporated into a CRB retaining wall. (NB. These elements may vary according to the Engineer's Design)
In order to build a SAFE, STABLE, and DURABLE wall using concrete retaining blocks, the retaining wall must incorporate a FOUNDATION, DRAINAGE, SOIL REINFORCEMENT or STABILISATION, and SOIL FILTER layers. Further, it is a requirement (in South Africa) that all retaining walls higher than 1m must be DESIGNED BY A PROFESSIONAL CIVIL ENGINEER and constructed in accordance with the design. Ramtar Construction is in the unique position to be able to offer you in-house design services included with our wall construction package. Our retaining walls are all designed by a Professional Civil Engineer and constructed in accordance with industry best practice. As the owner of retaining walls dallas, concrete retaining blocks are definitely a favorite of mine. They're just so easy, they're simple to use, they're big (so it's covers more ground), and they're just all around a good material for retaining walls. Thanks for sharing!
