Construction of a "Loffelstein" type retaining wall in Panorama Park Estate, Winklespruit. The actual wall uses an equivalent approved retaining block called Terrace Bloks. The retaining wall has been engineered for a 3.2m maximum design height and a minimum radius of 2m. Challenges on this project include a constantly varying wall height and a small radius curve.

California Bearing ratio test is used to measure the bearing capacity of the soil. These values are used in the pavement design.

A retaining wall is a structure built to retain a difference in ground level. While a retaining wall can serve as the footing for a fence, the wall itself is not considered to be a fence and is covered by different laws. I truly appreciate your great post!

Before you can build the retaining wall, it needs to be designed. Normally some ground investigation data is required for the retained earth and the ground bearing pressure.
